3 ways to generate more traffic and sales through your website.

In this article, we will discuss three things that you can do to generate more relevant traffic to your website.

Having relevant traffic will definitely increase the likelihood of doubling your conversion rate and that will trickle down to generating more revenue.

You need to know who you are communicating to in order to design and create content that is relevant, personalized and using the least amount of resources possible.

All customers are not the same and therefore, creating a buyer persona to use when creating and distributing content is essential.

A buyer persona is a graphical representation of your ideal customer. The information in the persona includes: age, gender, location, purchasing power, social media channel preference and much more.

Many businesses have more than one buyer personas since they sell different products and services, hence customers have different interests. 

Another reason why a business may have more than one graphical representation of their customer is to paint out the different parts customers might be on the buyers journey.

 

Optimizing website for search engines.

In this age where almost anyone can have a website, one needs to stand out from the rest with a unique, professional and fully optimized website.

Your website should be easily found on search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing. This is achieved through vigorous optimization techniques such which include:

  • Improving website speed
  • Having an organized site architecture
  • Good and rich content
  • Integrating social media channels to your website
  • Having a smooth design to foster good customer experience
  • Having clear calls to action (CTA’s) – These include well labelled buttons that enable a user to take action.
  • Having a lead capture strategy implemented on the website
  • Just to name a few.

 

Having good and relevant content

The third way of generating more traffic and sales to your website is by having good, valuable, relevant and fresh content.

What is quality content? 

Quality content can be described as content that fulfills three things:

  • Usefulness – does the content help or answer the user’s query?
  • Relevancy – Is the content in line with that the user was searching for?
  • Accurate – Is your content based of facts and the truth?

Displaying or distributing content based on where a customer is on the buyers journey is another important aspect.

For example, when a prospect is in the awareness stage of the buyers journey, you want them to see the different types of services and products on offer.

You do not want to start selling to them immediately.

Once they move down to the consideration stage, show content that explains why you are different from the rest and when they are about to convert, you want to close that deal by for example, giving an offer, or another incentive that they cannot resist.

In summary, driving traffic to your website is very important as it increases your chances of generating more leads and sales.

We have seen that having a buyer persona is essential in knowing who your target audience is and who you are marketing to. This helps in creating relevant content and distributing it to the channels that your customers use frequently.

Also, optimizing your website for search engines such as Google helps drive traffic to your website. Such optimizations include: increasing speed of your website, having a flat site architecture, optimizing images and videos, ensuring site is secure and improving the general user experience of the website.
