Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform experienced a short outage during the superbowl due to their unique yet simple half time break ad.
The Ad which saw a QR code glide from corner to corner, similar to old computer screen saver, captured the attention of viewers.
The ad ran for 60 seconds, allowing viewrs to get curious enough and pull out their phomes to scan the QR code.
Once they scanned, users were directed to a promotional page on the coinbase website where the company was giving away $15 in Bitcoin (BTC) to users who joined the platform by the 15th of February 2022 plus the chance to win $3 million in prizes.
The company’s chief product officer tweeted that they had experienced a surge in traffic that brought the site down but were working on it.

However, American football lovers enjoyed the ad with some of them cheering the QR code when it perfectly hit the corners of the tv screen.

According to Coindesk, The price of a 30-second Super Bowl ad slot on NBC was reportedly around $6.5 million – up around $1 million from last year – with some slots costing as much as $7 million.
Coinbase spent well over $12 million in this ad.
